Friday night, Mike picked Jay and I up after I got out of work, and we headed straight to Kent, (after a short detour to Subway for some dinner) and found that our fishing hole was already occupied by a couple ladies handing out million dollar bills. The more the merrier, though! Soon we had eleven evangelists all passing out tracts, preaching, and engaging in one-to-one witnessing.
After Scott started off the preaching, I participated in Tony Miano's 'Project Ezra' and recited Romans 1:16 through the end of chapter two, using it as a springboard into a presentation of the law and the gospel. From there, Mike, Scott and I took turns on the box.
Mike had a rather vociferous heckler shouting at him for quite some time. I'll have to ask him about the content of the 'discussion'. Meanwhile, I had an interesting discussion with a pair of professing believers. They agreed with the content of our message, and the necessity of using the law in evangelism, but had a hard time seeing open-air preaching as 'effective'. Hopefully they will take a look at scripture and see that it has always been God's normative means of reaching people with His word.
Looking forward to another month packed with preaching. We'll be in Tacoma, Seattle, Kent and Auburn. In September we'll even be going to Portland to preach at a Pirate festival! Keep checking in to see what we've been up to.
